6th JUNE WEETON SHOOT RE-INSTATED...
After negotiating with the Training Wing at Weeton, we are pleased to be able to tell you that the 6th June shoot is back on. There is a car rally being held that weekend, but they are only setting up on the Saturday. SAFETY FIRST - watch out for cars and vans moving around the training area when you're driving in.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING ...
The Committee would like to inform the members that the AGM will be held at 7:00pm on the 4th June 2009, at the Blue Anchor, Greenhalgh. The meeting, which is an hour earlier than normal, will be followed by a meal. You can bring a non-member as a guest but, as always, they will not be allowed into the meeting and their meal will need to be paid for - see the Treasurer on the night.
PROPOSAL TO BE VOTED UPON AT THE AGM
Should we consider different ways of organising Altcar shoots or is the current system satisfactory?
It has been proposed that we consider different approaches to running the Altcar shoots, one suggestion being to count the number of attendees prior to the start of the shoot and then allocating enough lanes so that each shooter spends considerably longer on the firing point and also correspondingly longer in the butts. The costs of hiring the lanes would then be split equally between the shooters. Other methods may also be suggested.
The vote therefore is between: YES, WE SHOULD CONSIDER ALTERNATIVES and NO, IT'S WORKING OK AS IT IS.
ALTCAR - PLEASE NOTE...
Download the latest up-to-date calendar, there are changes to distances at Altcar.
Also, regarding Altcar - do not let your pass expire, get it renewed just BEFORE it runs out. You will need two photographs, with your name and the name of the club written on the back.
Please also arrive in plenty of time, so that we can work out how many targets we will need and how long people will have to stay in the butts - it's not fair if we start off with only a few, and the first butt party are there for 45 minutes or so, then more people arrive and the other butt details are much shorter. It has been suggested that we should pick on people who arrive late and send them straight to the butts - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! So get there by noon or shortly after if you can. If you arrive later than 12:30 without having forewarned us, we cannot guarantee you a shoot.
If you are going to attend at all, a prior phone call to either Alan W, or John C would be appreciated - on days when the weather isn't good, the shoot may be cancelled and it would save a wasted journey if we knew who intended going and could pass the news around.
