Fylde Coast Muzzle Loaders Society - Club News

AGM....

The AGM will be held at 7pm on the 7th June, at the Number 4. In order to combat rising postal costs, the notifications are being sent out by email to those who have agreed to electronic communications, and letters will be available to collect at Weeton - search through for the one addressed to you, please. Any remaining will be posted. As mentioned before, the subscriptions have increased for the coming year due to rising costs - take a good look at the balance sheet on the back of the AGM letter.

RESTRICTED ACCESS AT ALTCAR RANGES....

We have been informed by Altcar Range that "the main entrance gate may be closed over lunch periods at weekends due to restricted manning" and that "this closure is most likely to occur during their lunch period 1200hrs to 1330 hrs where no access is available". So it is apparent that you need to arrive at Altcar before 12pm if you are to have any real chance of gaining access in time to have a meaningful shoot. Late arrivals will earn themselves the privilege of going to the top of the list for butts duties.

MARKETPLACE SPRING CLEAN....

If you have any items for sale in the Marketplace section and you want the advert removing, please let the Secretary know.

COMPETITION RESULTS....

Results for the Club Competitions and Fun Shoot are now available here on the Competitions page. Unfortunately, the Fun Shoot was affected by weather conditions, so not all of the events were held.

It is, however, apparent that none of our competitions are very well supported - maybe this year we should all make more of an effort to have a go. Suggestions have been made that competitions should be held during the warmer months, but even those that run for most of the year (including all summer) get few, if any, entries.

NRA CERTIFICATION CARDS FOR 2012 NOW AVAILABLE....

Don't forget that you need to have your NRA certification card with you when attending any of our shoots- spot checks are carried out, particularly at Altcar. You can collect your card from the Chairman, and the good news is that they are now valid for four years instead of just one. If lost, there will be a charge for replacement.

SUBSCRIPTIONS....

Due to rising costs for range hire, insurance and licenses, the Committee has taken the decision to increase the yearly subscription with immediate effect. For current paid-up members this means you will be affected by the increase at the AGM in June 2012 when the subs are due; for anyone joining before then, the new subs will be charged at a pro-rata amount for the remaining period.

Details can be found on the Subscriptions page.

ALTCAR - PLEASE NOTE....

Do not let your Altcar range pass expire, get it renewed just BEFORE it runs out. You will need two photographs, with your name and the name of the club written on the back.

If you are going to attend an Altcar shoot, a prior phone call to either Alan W, or John C would be appreciated - on days when the weather isn't good, the shoot may be cancelled and it would save a wasted journey if we knew who intended going and could pass the news around.
